ITF World Tennis Adesalu sweeps past Shoults in Bermuda
Sunday, October 25, 2026

International tennis has made a welcome return to Bermuda this week, with the WER Joell Tennis Stadium staging the first of back-to-back International Tennis Federation (ITF) M15 tournaments. The opening day of action in Pembroke got under way on the hard courts with the preliminary qualifying rounds, where Great Britain's Nicholas Adesalu produced a composed performance to secure a commanding straight-sets victory. Adesalu faced American Cole Shoults in the sole qualifying draw fixture scheduled for the afternoon, taking control of the contest after a tight opening set to run out a 6-4, 6-1 winner. The first set proved a keenly contested baseline battle, with Shoults applying early pressure on serve. However, Adesalu held firm in the pivotal moments, securing a crucial break of serve late in the set to edge ahead 6-4. With the momentum firmly in his favour, the Briton elevated his level in the second set. Dictating the tempo from the back of the court and returning with precision, Adesalu conceded just one game to wrap up the match in clinical fashion and seal his passage into the next round of qualifying. The M15 event marks the start of a competitive fortnight of professional tennis in Bermuda, with local and international players vying for valuable ATP ranking points and prize money across the back-to-back tournaments.
